UPDATE JAN 2024

Update 24 January 2024

To all Members,

During 2023 the Bakersville team worked hard to establish a stable and reliable administration

platform as well as a structured customer data base. This entailed the revision of documents and

processes to making future engagements with customers easier, faster, and safer.

Furthermore, the team was also hard at work to engage with, and foster solid relationships with the

professional team that includes town planners, architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, etc. In

addition to this, Bakersville management was in regular contact with several government

departments in order to duly follow regulatory processes and a huge focus was placed on dealing

with a growing number of prospective investors, both in residential and commercial/industrial

ventures. This was a daunting and a challenging task, but we are pleased to report that big strides

were made in the process towards progression.

An important phenomenon that also emerged during the latter part of 2023, was the interest in the

Bakersville venture from foreign clients from different parts of the world – this includes the interest

in portions reserved by Namibians that reside abroad. So far, there are about 600 clients that

applied to reserve residential portions and about 80 – 100 that did the same for commercial or

industrial portions in the extension called ‘Nevdale’. The demand for portions to be reserved is

growing steadily and the positive participation of clients to promote Bakersville is commendable and

most pleasing.

Also, during 2023, negotiations started with funders and developers to establish a huge solar farm

on the most eastern border of Bakersville where 760 hectares have been put aside for this venture.

The initial stage of the solar farm would deliver between 100MW and 150MW. Furthermore, during

the course of the year, the mandatory environmental impact submissions were made to

government. This was one of the most comprehensive submissions of its kind yet to be submitted in

Namibia.

The Bakersville management team is very excited about 2024 as the soon to-be-expected outcome

of the environmental impact submission will unlock several processes towards title deeds

establishments, title registrations and the commencement of development activity on the ground.

The FAQ section on the Bakersville website and Bakersville client WhatsApp group, will now be

updated on a monthly basis the first of which will be during the first week of February 2024.
